The GCI Turf 28-0-8 G is a 40-pound bag that can be used in many different ways depending on your needs. It can be used for "heavy" feeding or for spoon feeding and is suitable to be used on any turf type. This mini-prill granular has both urea and sulfur coated urea for the nitrogen source and the filler is biochar. 50% of the nitrogen is slow release.
The mini prill (150 SGN) makes for super easy spreading in any spreader and will give you more prills per square foot. Use GCI Turf 28-0-8 G to fertilize any turf mowed at any height but the micro prill is an exceptional choice for fertilizing turf mowed below .5".
Use on warm season grass all summer long during the growing season.
Use on cool season turf anytime during the growing season.
To apply 1 pound of nitrogen per 1000 apply 3.5 pounds of this fertilizer per 1000 square feet. At this rate one bag covers 12,000 square feet.
To apply 3/4 pound of nitrogen per 1000 apply 2.6 pounds of this fertilizer per 1000 square feet. At this rate one bag covers 16,000 square feet.
To apply 1/2 pound of nitrogen per 1000 apply 1.8 pounds of this fertilizer per 1000 square feet. At this rate one bag covers 25,000 square feet.
To apply 1/4 pound of nitrogen per 1000 apply .9 pounds of this fertilizer per 1000 square feet. At this rate one bag covers 50,000 square feet.
To apply 1/10 pound of nitrogen per 1000 apply .35 pounds of this fertilizer per 1000 square feet. At this rate one bag covers 121,000 square feet.
The biochar used in this blend is an organic food waste biochar. Biochar is a carbon-rich, fine-grained, porous substance produced under oxygen-limiting conditions at temperatures between 350-700° C. Biochar has a high stable carbon content of 70-80%. The biochar used in the GCI Turf 28-0-8 G has been shown to increase root mass and aid in seed establishment.
