The biochar used in this blend is an organic food waste biochar. Biochar is a carbon-rich, fine-grained, porous substance produced under oxygen-limiting conditions at temperatures between 350-700° C. Biochar has a high stable carbon content of 70-80%. The biochar used in the GCI Turf 30-0-0 G has been shown to increase root mass and aid in seed establishment.

Why Ammonium Sulfate & Urea Nitrogen Matter for Turfgrass

This granular fertilizer is powered by a dual-nitrogen system using ammonium sulfate and urea nitrogen, giving your lawn both immediate response and sustained growth. Together, these nitrogen sources deliver reliable color, density, and recovery across cool-season and warm-season turfgrass varieties.

Ammonium Sulfate – Fast Color & Strong Roots

Ammonium sulfate provides quick-acting nitrogen that turf can absorb immediately. This helps drive rapid green-up, increased density, and stronger top growth when your lawn needs it most. In addition, ammonium sulfate contains sulfur, an essential nutrient that enhances chlorophyll production and improves overall nutrient uptake. The result is deeper green color, improved vigor, and better root development.

Urea Nitrogen – Consistent, Even Growth

Urea nitrogen supplies a steady, longer-lasting source of nitrogen, supporting controlled growth over time. As it breaks down in the soil, it feeds turfgrass gradually, reducing excessive flushes while promoting uniform growth and long-term turf health. This makes it ideal for maintaining consistent color and performance throughout the growing season.

The Result

By combining ammonium sulfate and urea nitrogen, this fertilizer delivers:

  • Fast green-up with lasting color

  • Improved turf density and thickness

  • Stronger root development

  • Better nutrient efficiency

  • Reliable performance in both cool-season and warm-season lawns

This balanced nitrogen blend is ideal for homeowners and professionals looking for dependable results, healthier turf, and a visibly greener lawn.
